Security measures for the National Archaeological Museum

Actions for the surrounding area

Possible solutions to the problems related to the ugly and unpleasant picture of the National Archaeological Museum’s surrounding area, which negatively affects the visitability of the museum have been discussed during the meeting of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports on Tuesday, February 19.

The actions discussed during this meeting include better lighting of the streets and spaces of the museum’s surrounding area, thorough daily cleaning of the area, planting ornamental plants and maintaining the garden of the museum, arrangement of the bus parking in Vasileos Erakliou street, upgrading the area of the cafeteria, planning cultural events which will take place in the surrounding areas of the museum throughout the year, intensifying surveillance of the spaces and streets surrounding the museum.

The General Directorate of Culture, the Ministry of Public Order and the Municipality of Athens will collaborate in order to achieve the goals of the project.
