The Zagora Archaeological Project is calling for volunteers to work on the Geometric settlement site at Zagora (Andros, Greece) between 23rd September to 2nd November inclusive. Volunteers may apply for a place for the whole six week period, or for the three week period between either 23rd September and 11th October inclusive or 14th October to 2nd November inclusive.

Volunteers will be expected to work a five-and-a-half day week, mainly excavating on site, but with occasional days washing and processing finds in the museum. Work on site will be physically demanding, and will also necessitate one hour walking over rough terrain to and from the site daily while carrying supplies.

Volunteers will cover their own travel costs and will make a contribution to their living expenses on Andros: this contribution will be $600 for six weeks’ participation or $300 for three weeks’ participation. They will also be required to become a member of the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens: aaia.chass.usyd.edu.au/Membership.html

If you wish to apply to participate in the project, please send your completed application form no later than Friday 10 May, 2013 to both Professor Margaret Miller: [email protected] and Dr Lesley Beaumont: [email protected]
