The British Museum, the Great North Museum and Bede’s World are looking for a trainee candidate to work in the British Museum Prehistory and Europe department, and then go on to work with the Medieval Britain collections at both the Great North Museum and Bede’s World. At the British Museum you will focus on cataloguing aspects of the Medieval Europe collection with a focus on the British Isles and supporting the supervising curator in other responsibilities. You will then go on to support the curatorial team at the Great North Museum and Bede’s World, working across a variety of Medieval Britain Collections and gaining experience in many different museum activities. In conjunction with this vocational experience you will take part in an extensive training programme covering a broad range of curatorial practice.

Salary: Bursary fee (£15,000 pro rata in London, £13,000 pro rata outside London): tax exempt.

Contract: Fixed-term contract: accredited training programme achieving a British Museum Curatorial Diploma; 18 months – 6 months at The British Museum and 12 months at the Great North Museum and Bede’s World (Full Time)

Vocational qualification: British Museum Curatorial Diploma.
