The 13th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities has organized the temporary exhibition “About weaving…”, showcasing textiles and other works of art by Ioanna Terlidou at the Athanasakeion Archaeological Museum of Volos.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Wednesday, July 10th, 2013, at 8.00 p.m.

Ioanna Terlidou has been awarded by a scholarship of EOMMEX and studied at l’ Ecole National Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, where she specialized in tapisserie. Returning to Volos, she opened up a traditional weaving workshop. In the beginning she used a horizontal loom and gradually she started weaving on a vertical loom.

The temporary exhibition at the Archaeological Museum of Volos approaches the weaving art in all its aspects, its history, its playful aspect, as an artistic expression and as a utilitarian object. Mrs. Terlidou presents her own works, woven on a vertical loom during the last three years. In parallel, the exhibition includes copies of ancient objects related to weaving, in an attempt to connect the past with the present. Short films give information about weaving art from antiquity to modern times.
