“Περίπλους”, navigator of antiquity

The compilation of navigation instructions, was called by the ancient Greeks “Περίπλους” (= circumnavigation) and was used by sailors while sailed around the coast. Unfortunately, only a few of these navigation guides have been preserved. The “Περίπλους” books, combined with similar-Byzantine guides and the later “πορτολάνοι” prove the continuous nautical tradition of our nation throughout the centuries.
