A consideration of the phenomenon of earthquakes in ancient Greece

This article gives a brief critical survey of the various concepts of Greek antiquity as regards the phenomenon of the earthquake. Information is presented concerning mainly the pre – Homeric age and the god Poseidon the prevailing figure of the seismic plenomenon in its early phase, is examined.
