In the winter semester of the academic year 1988-1989, the students of the Department of History and Archaeology of Athens University who had chosen the course “Attic Pottery and Economy” had the opportunity to visit a pottery workshop at Marousi, Attica. This scheduled educational activity proved to be a unique experience. In an atmosphere both remote and unreal, compared to the nearby modern Kifissias highway and the European shopping centres of the district, the students encountered a pottery workshop where the working methods and pottery procedure as well as the social structure of antiquity had been revived almost completely.
