The Theatrical Museum of Panos Aravantinos

Panos Aravantinos’ Theatrical Museum of Scenography is housed in the Municipal theatre of Pireas. Aravantinos(1886 – 1930), a prominent scenographer of his time, had designed sets and costumes for all theatrical genres, opera, ballet, operetta, prose, etc. He spent most of his life abroad where he produced his main volume of work. Guided tours for children is one of the activities of the Museum. The young visitors can follow the architectural evolution of theatre from antiquity until today; moreover, they become familiar with the scenographic creation of Panos Aravantinos through his drawings and costumes and can understand some of the prerequisites for putting on a play today.
