The national representative list with the subjects regarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage is expected to be announced by the end of May. This was mentioned during the meeting of the National Committee for the application of the UNSECO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, held on Monday, February 25.
Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports, Mr. Costas Tzavaras, who attended the meeting, said the compilation of the National Representative List is of major importance for the country and its culture, as it will eventually enhance visibility of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and raise international awareness of the important symbolic forms of approaching the world and life in general, which Greek civilization has created and which are preserved up to this day as features of everyday life in Greece.
During the Committee’s meeting, it was also announced that necessary actions have been launched to prepare the candidature files for the inscription of the candidates as elements on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
