It also includes concise biographies of translators and scholars, along with an interactive map that enables diachronic reconstruction of Thucydides’ global receptions.
In detail, and as stated in the database, the catalog records editions, translations, and commentaries on Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War, from the 14th to the 21st centuries. While its focus is on printed works, it also includes manuscript translations and commentaries created before 1700 that hold particular significance for the history of Thucydidean reception. The ‘Editors, Translators & Commentators’ section enables targeted searches for authors and scholars who have published editions, translations, and commentaries on Thucydides’ work. Catalogue items are georeferenced on an interactive map, where they may be filtered by century, language, typology (editions, translations, commentaries), and content.
