Andrew F. Stewart’s professional accomplishments are well known. He was a bold and discerning thinker, a prolific author, an accomplished archaeologist, an excellent teacher, a supportive advisor, and a wonderful colleague.
For donkey’s years, Andy Stewart was a summer touchstone at the American School and in the Athenian Agora. All who came to the School knew where he could be found: researching sculptural fragments in the Stoa of Attalos, lecturing for the summer programs, staying in the (cooler) basement of Loring Hall, and presiding over Ouzo Hour on the Alumni/ae Porch. Friends and colleagues have commemorated Andy’s presence at the American School by naming a room in Loring Hall in his honor. In this celebration, colleagues, students, and friends, including Erich Gruen, Kristen Seaman, Rebecca Levitan, Seth Estrin, S.
