Cornell Fleischer (Kanumi Suleyman Professor, Ottoman and Modern Turkish Studies, University of Chicago) will address the topic “The Mystic Lettrist ‘Abd ad-Rahman al-Bistami and the Origins of Ottoman Historical Consciousness.” This will be the Thirty-Fourth Annual Lecture in Honor of Francis R. Walton organized by the Gennadius Library.
