Crowdsourcing heritage, museums and local communities

The Netherlands Institute at Athens will hold the 1st Meeting of the on-line discussions “Current Challenges in Cultural Management and Heritage Tourism” on April 20, 2021, at 16.00 (Athens time zone). The webinar’s title is “Crowdsourcing heritage and the interaction between museums and local communities”.

The on-line discussions on “Current Challenges in Cultural Management and Heritage Tourism” are featuring academics and practitioners presenting case studies and insights on current challenges in the fields of cultural management, museums, heritage and tourism. The NIA acts as an academic and cultural center, the purpose of which is to coordinate contacts between Dutch and Greek academic and cultural institutions.

The discussion on “Crowdsourcing heritage and the interaction between museums and local communities” will be between Nicole Van Dijk, social anthropologist, curator of the Museum Rotterdam and Director of Stichting WIjkcollectie (District Heritage Foundation) who will reflect on the “Echt Rotterdams erfgoed” (Authentic Heritage of Rotterdam) initiative (fb link) and Marlen Mouliou, Assistant Professor in Museology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens who will talk about the experience of “The Museum Inside Me” initiative (fb link). The discussion will be moderated by the director of the Netherlands Institute at Athens, Winfred Van de Put.
