Cyprian Broodbank, the author of the recently published The Making of the Middle Sea: A History of the Mediterranean from the Beginning to the emergence of the Classical World, who has recently been elected John Disney Professor of Archaeology and Director of the McDonald Institute at Cambridge University, will give a lecture at the British Academy.
The BSA is organizing this fundraising event in order to broaden the outreach of the School in London and raise funds for its activities in Greece. The lecture will take place at the British Academy on 22nd January 2014.
The recent publication of Professor Broodbank’s book adds a further dimension to regional studies of the Mediterranean past, taking the story back to its beginnings and considering the African shore in detail as well as more widely studied regions. Copies of this handsomely illustrated book, published by Thames & Hudson, will be available for purchase at a concessionary price and the lecture will be followed by a book signing and reception.
Tickets for this fundraising event cost £20.00 each (£10.00 for students). Please book by completing the slip and returning it to the BSA, at the address below, enclosing your payment. Early booking is advised as the room holds 120 people. The BSA shall also organise a live video relay into a neighbouring room if demand exceeds this figure. No paper tickets will be issued, but the BSA will acknowledge your order by e mail or post.
