In the framework of the events organized by Marseille-Provence 2013 – European Capital of Europe, Aix-Marseille Université will hold a series of conferences for the public on every second Tuesday of the month from February to November. A true “university for the people”, these conferences strive to pass on the latest advances in research and critical tools to better deconstruct preconceived ideas on Euro-Mediterranean current affairs.
The first topic discussed will be “Athens and Jerusalem: reason and revelation in Mediterranean civilizations”. The lecture will be given by historian and philosopher Alain de Libera. A round table discussion will follow with historian Blandine Chellini-Pont and islamologist Denis Gril.
