Baroque and Caravaggio

Saturday, September 21, 2013

Professor Rudolf Preimesberger (Freie Universität Berlin) will give a seminar titled “Baroque and Caravaggio”. This will be the first of a series of seminars organized by the Society of Greek Historians of Art.

Rudolf Preimesberger has been director of the Institute for Art History in Munich, and is internationally regarded an authority on Italian Baroque and the painting of Caravaggio. In his seminar, professor Preimesberger will focus on the notions which have been linked to this artistic style. Then he will refer to the work of Caravaggio and, finally, he will study the works of the painter in connection with the basic notions analyzed in the first part of the Seminar.

The event is sponsored by the Austrian Embassy and the Benaki Museum.

The Seminar will be in English.
