The Annual Meeting 2017 of the EBSA will take place on May 23.
The director of the School, Professor Jan Driessen, will report on the School’s numerous activities in Greece and Belgium and, above all, on the exciting finds and breakthroughs done at Thorikos, Itanos, and Sissi covering all the periods from the Middle Helladic to Classical Greece.
This report will be followed by a lecture of Dr Annie Verbanck-Piérart (Curator of the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities, Royal Museum of Mariemont), on the topic:
“Ἀνδρὸς εὔχειρος τέχνη. Attic Potters and Painters at their best : words, pictures, status”
This promises to put in exergue the question of Athenian workshops and the work of the artisans behind some of the most intriguing productions of the Classical Greek polis.
Finally, a reception will be offered in the premises of the Scuola Archeologica Italiana di Atene (SAIA), Parthenonos 14.
