Rachel Wood is a lecturer in Hellenistic History at Cardiff University. Her research focuses on the role of art and visual culture in shaping experience in the Hellenistic world (c.330-c.30 BC), especially in and around the Seleukid empire, the Middle East and Central Asia. She is particularly interested in what can be learned from iconography and objects about modes of cultural interaction and ancient religions. She is co-editor (with J. Elsner) of Imagining the Divine: Art in Religions of Late Antiquity across Eurasia (2021 British Museum Press), and (with K. Kelly) Digital imaging of artefacts: Developments in methods and aims (2018 Archeopress).
