Remembering Geoffrey Waywell

Friends, colleagues and students of Professor Geoffrey B. Waywell FKC (16 January 1944 – 16 February 2016) are warmly invited to an afternoon of reminiscences, tributes and anecdotes covering Geoffrey’s various activities and achievements in his 36 years at the Department of Classics, King’s College London, and his Directorship of the Institute of Classical Studies, and his academic researches including the Mausoleum, the Daedalus project, country house collections and the excavations at Sparta.

Speakers will include John Wilkes, Susan Walker, Hafed Walda, Olga Palagia, Birte Lundgren, Ian Jenkins, Peter Higgs, Bernard Gredley, Ayse Calik Ross, Gerald Cadogan and Colin Annis.

The Strand Quartet will provide musical interludes from Beethoven. There will be mid-afternoon tea and biscuits, and from 6 to 7 pm the Classics Department will host a reception for all attending in Chapters (KCL).
