Kimberley Bowes (Director, American Academy in Rome) will introduce the topic “Roman peasants: Food, lives, landscapes”
Although they comprised up to 90% of the Roman population, poor rural dwellers remain poorly understood. This lecture presents some of the preliminary results of a project in Tuscany, designed to investigate the architecture, diet, economies and landscapes of this people without history.”
The lecture is organized by the ASCSA and the Roman Seminar.
