The History of Hellenism in the City of St Mark (Autumn lecture of the Barber Institute of Fine Arts)

This special lecture is presented by Professor Chryssa Maltezou, Member of the Academy of Athens, Professor Emeritus at the University of Athens, Former Director of the Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post -Byzantine Studies in Venice. Looking at the depiction of the city of Venice in Byzantine visual culture, it marks the final event in a series programmed to complement our fascinating coin exhibition ‘Cityscapes: Panoramic Views on European Coins and Medals’ (on until 6 October) .

The lecture will be followed by an informal reception.

This event has been jointly organized by the Barber Institute and the UK Society for the Promotion of Byzantine Studies.
