The Chair of Egyptology at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg invites applications for a doctoral research fellow (TV-L E13 50%; initial monthly salary min. c. 2,300 EUR before tax and social insurance). The position shall be filled as soon as possible. The initial duration of the position is 12 months. An extension is possible.
The successful applicant is expected to write a PhD dissertation in Egyptology, to work on an application for a PhD scholarship to complete the PhD, and to teach 2.5 hours per semester.
The candidate will require a master’s degree (predicate very good or excellent) or equivalent qualification in Egyptology (grade at least 1.7 according to the German grading system or country-specific equivalent), fluent English, and at least good knowledge of German. A reading knowledge of French, Italian, and Spanish is highly desirable. She or he will receive supervision to allow her or him to develop her or his subject for a doctoral dissertation and the application for a scholarship. The candidate will be free to decide on a thesis topic.
