From 2000 up to 2010 the team of Prof Th. Papadopoulos (University of Ioannina) uncovers an important settlement in Jordan. The site of Tell Kafrein consists of a large man-made hill ( tell) where a settlement has been found scattered around an acropolis, which was situated on top. A large amound of objects, many of them inported, prove the power of the settlement, its connections with the Aegean, Ctyprus and Egypt and its lifespan, starting from early Bronze Age and reaching up to Classical Antiquity.
Much of the site has not been studied yet and it will be a pity whether financial or other circumstances bring an end to the fruitful research of Prof. Papadopoulos and his wife, Prof. Kontorli-Papadopoulou as well as postgraduate and undergraduate students from teh University of Ioannina.
