One of the major problems in detaching floor mosaics from the ground is moisture. Recently, however. the method of exposing the mosaics to infrared radiation has yielded excellent results and seems to have solved the moisture problem very satisfactorily.

All measurements and experiments neccessary for the application of the method were carried out with the full assistance of the scientific staff of Patras University. This new method has been proven much better than all others applied so far for the reasons that it does not damage the mosaics, dries the mosaics much deeper, costs less, contributes to better working conditions and is quite harmless to the restorers’ health.
