Unlike his teacher Rodin who admired Pheidias, Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929) became interested in the “organized commotion” of Olympia and of archaic art. As early on as 1905, Bourdelle was one of the first to be in favour of the return of the Parthenon sculptures.
