Due to the 6-year closure of the Heracleion Archaeological Museum in Crete, the city’s Mayor Yannis Kourakis had an interesting idea… Why not organizing an exhibition of 300 newfound ancient artifacts?

The exhibition has been proposed to be hosted in the Municipial Gallery of St. Mark Basilica, in the town center. The proposed artifacts have been brought to light through excavations in Central, West and Eastern Crete, including the site of Eleftherna.

We are looking forward to the Ministry of Culture’s reply.
