In an announcement, the Panhellenic Union of Antiquities Security Guards expressed its deep concern and discontent towards the political leadership of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports about the delay in payments for Sundays and public holidays work.

Despite assurances by Kostas Tzavaras, Deputy Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports, the guards have not been paid for the last three months, as they state in their announcement.

The Antiquities Security Guards warned the Ministry that unless the problem is solved immediately, they will abstain from their duties on weekends and holidays. If they do, on these days all museums and archaeological sites will remain close.
