The MuseumNext conference will take place between April 19-21 2015 at the Le Bâtiment des Forces Motrices, a former factory in the heart of Geneva which has been converted into an impressive cultural space.

MuseumNext is Europe’s major conference on the future of museums. The event brings together delegates from around the world to discuss ‘what’s next?’ for the museum sector. The conference’s Organising Committee invites the international museum community to participate in the 2015 conference by proposing presentations, workshops or panel discussions on the subject of ‘What’s next for museums?’, seeking excellent examples of today which shine a light on the museum of tomorrow.

The conference will be a dialogue about what’s next in all aspects of the museum, including architecture, exhibitions, technology, skills, collections, conservation, purpose and leadership.

All presentations should deliver thought provoking insight, showcase innovative ideas, reveal ‘how to’ or even share stories of what not to do.

At the end of each session delegates should be able to take away knowledge that they can apply to their own work.

Formats

There are three ways to participate in the MuseumNext Geneva programme: to make a presentation, to run a workshop or to hold a panel discussion.

Presentations at MuseumNext are 20 minutes long, while both the workshop sessions and the panel discussions should be 1 hour 30 minutes. These timings should be kept in mind when making a proposal.

Proposals

Proposals should contain the following information:

– Title of presentation, workshop or panel discussion

– Name or names of those presenting

– Organisation(s)

– Summary of presentation (no more than 500 words)

– Relevant links

– What one expects delegates to learn from his/her session

All MuseumNext presentations and proposals should be made in English. The deadline for submitting a proposal is 31st October 2014.

After this, an international peer panel will consider all proposals and the Organising Committee shall inform all those, successful or otherwise by 31st November 2014.

The decision of the panel is final.

Proposals should be emailed to [email protected] no later than 31st October 2014.

One person from each presentation or workshop will receive free entry to MuseumNext. All those participating in a panel discussion will be eligible for free entry to MuseumNext.
