The Call for Applications for the 4th cycle of the Advanced Training Course in “Egyptology: From Education to Research” has been published.

The Course, directed by Prof Paola Buzi and Prof Angelo Colonna, is addressed to graduate and postgraduate students. It aims to provide a training pathway designed to supply the tools, methods and skills necessary for participants to undertake independent, mature research in the Egyptological field. It prepares students for drafting doctoral and post-doctoral research proposals, research projects and academic papers, enhancing students’ critical and analytical skills as well as their knowledge and command of relevant tools and resources. Furthermore, skills for designing an exhibition on an Egyptological subject will be provided.

Participants will be actively involved not only through monographic seminars but also through the reading and presentation of scientific articles provided during the Course, and through autonomous research activities.

Additionally, the 2025-2026 course has a specific theme, which this year will be “Magic in Ancient Egypt: Materials, Methods, and Research Tools.”

Lessons will be held in Italian at the Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy of Sapienza University of Rome. Moreover, in light of the Chair’s involvement in promoting the upcoming exhibition Tesori dei Faraoni at the Scuderie del Quirinale (24 October, 2025 – 3 May, 2026), students of the course will benefit from a special visit to the exhibition and a lecture by the Director of the Scuderie del Quirinale.

The program will soon be published. You can find further
