The Forty-fourth Annual Byzantine Studies Conference (BSC) will be held in San Antonio, Texas, from Thursday evening, October 4th through Sunday afternoon, October 7th, 2018.

The Local Arrangements Chair for 2018 is Dr. Annie Labatt of the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The Byzantine Studies Conference is the annual forum for the presentation and discussion of papers on every aspect of Byzantine Studies, and is open to all, regardless of nationality or academic status. It is also the occasion of the annual meeting of the Byzantine Studies Association of North America (BSANA), conducted by its officers.

Proposals on any aspect of Byzantine studies are welcomed.

Deadline for abstracts: Wednesday, 15 February 2018, 11:59 pm EST

Proposals are submitted as individual abstracts. Proposals consist of:

  1. Your contact information; a proposed title; and, if part of a panel proposal, proposed panel information (see website).
  2. A single PDF copy of the 500-word or less, blind abstract (title only, no name), formatted and submitted according to the detailed information on the website.  https://www.bsc2018.com/
