In a statement, the Association of Greek Archaeologists “conveyed to the heads of the Ministry of Culture and Sports the serious concern of colleagues, members of the Association of Greek Archaeologists, as well as of all employees in the country’s museums, regarding the coronavirus, a phenomenon that is gradually spreading across the whole country”.

As noted in the announcement: “It should be reminded that particularly in our large museums, even under the present conditions, a great number of visitors gather in a narrow space. The situation is further complicated by the fact that many of these visitors either belong to so-called vulnerable social groups or come from countries where there is an increase of the phenomenon. For this reason, we call on the Ministry of Culture to immediately react to an emergency and protect both employees and visitors by deciding to suspend the operation of all Museums in the country for a specified period, in accordance with instructions of the authorities.”
