In an announcement, the Association of Greek Archaeologists (AGA) expresses its satisfaction with the fact that a large number of public archaeological museums and archaeological sites of the Ministry of Culture and Sports consistently receive excellent reviews from travelers and are ranked in the top 10% of recommended places to visit in Trip Advisor for 2020.

“During such a difficult year, congratulations are due to the services of the Ministry of Culture and to all the staff of public museums and archaeological sites who managed to attend to thousands of visitors, while respecting all public health measures. It is obvious that, contrary to what has been surreptitiously said and written about so-called “outdated museum structures” or “rigid bureaucracy”, the dynamics of Greek public museums and the quality of exhibitions are judged as positive by those primarily on the receiving end of our work: the visitors themselves “says the AGA.

The AGA announced that for 2020 the “Traveler’s Choice Award” has been awarded to the following 31 museums of the Ministry of Culture and Sports: National Archaeological Museum, Byzantine and Christian Museum, Museum of Byzantine Culture, Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, Numismatic Museum, Museum of Asian Art of Corfu, Archaeological Museum of Volos, Archaeological Museum of Delphi, Archaeological Museum of Thassos, Archaeological Museum of Thebes, Archaeological Museum of Corinth, Archaeological Museum of Lemnos, Archaeological Museum of Messenia, Archaeological Museum of Naxos, Archaeological Museum of Nafplion, Archaeological Museum of Olympia, Archaeological Museum of Patras, Archaeological Museum of Piraeus, Archaeological Museum of Pella, Archaeological Museum of Pythagorion Samos, Archaeological Museum of Rethymnon, Archaeological Museum of Rhodes (Hospital of the Knights), Archaeological Museum of Chania, Byzantine Museum of Veroia, Diachronic Museum of Larisa, Museum of the Ancient Agora Athens, Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aegae (Vergina), Museum of the White Tower (Lefkos Pyrgos), Thessaloniki, Museum of the Olympic Games and the Palace of the Grand Master of the knights of Rhodes.
