The Faculty of History, Art and Area Studies seeks to fill the W3 Professorship in Ancient History (successor to professor Charlotte Schubert) at the earliest opportunity.
The holder of the position will represent the field of ancient history in research and teaching, with a research focus on digital history / digital classics.
A willingness to participate in ongoing and planned strategic research fields and research foci within and outside the Faculty is expected, as is evidence of interdisciplinary collaborations and successful acquisition of external funding.
The successful candidate will participate in all courses offered by the Department of History and the Faculty’s ancient studies courses and must therefore demonstrate appropriate pedagogical aptitude by means of a teaching portfolio. Applicants are requested to submit a short concept (no more than two pages) detailing their ideas for the position of professor at the Department of History and how a focus on ancient studies at Leipzig University might develop over time.
