The purpose of the Center is “the research of History, Art and Civilization of Greek Antiquity in general and of Roman Antiquity “. Research programs refer to the study of Neolithic, Creto-Mycenean, Classic and Roman antiquity on the basis of written sources and preserved archaeological material. Most of these programs were planned and scheduled in the mid-1980s, when the then personnel was relatively sufficient. The Center supervises and coordinates international projects of the Academy in cooperation with the relevant committees of the institution. Its library comprises about 2.500 volumes of archaeological and historic interest.
