The American Folklore Society’s 2013 annual meeting will be held on October 16-19 at the Omni Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. The theme for the meeting, on which presentations will be encouraged but not required, is “Cultural Sustainability”:

March 31 is the deadline for:

Submitting a proposal for an individual presentation or a pre-organized session, and for participants in pre-organized sessions to register for the Annual Meeting. Pre-organized session participants must submit all necessary proposal information to their session chairs well in advance of the deadline.

Proposals for Special Events. AFS sections, university folklore programs, and other organizations that want to request a time and space for any of several kinds of special events (including professional development workshops, section business meetings, section-sponsored lectures, receptions, performances, jam sessions, and the like), can do so through a separate process that does not require registration or fee payment.
