The StAGE committee announces that registration for the postgraduate conference ‘StAGE 2015: Training and Research in Material Culture Related to the Ancient World’ is now open. The conference will take place at the University of St Andrews on March 20th – 21st 2015, from 9.00-5.45 each day, and be primarily aimed at doctoral students at Scottish Universities. The timetable can be found here.

Leading specialists have been invited to conduct six workshops in the fields of Virtual Realities, Medical Archaeology, Numismatics, Portable Antiquities, Forensic Anthropology and Papyrology, to foster awareness of these fields among graduate students and confidence to pursue them further. In a workshop of an hour and fifteen minutes each of the invited specialists will show how the principles of their discipline can be applied to various research topics. The list of workshops can be found here.

Ten short research papers, on the theme of Materiality, will be given by postgraduate students. Speakers will present their research in an informal environment and receive feedback from other doctoral students in related disciplines and the workshop hosts. A list of the postgraduate speakers, with links to their abstracts, can be found here.

Registration

Registration costs £5.00. Morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch are included for both days. More information about the conference dinner on the evening of Friday 20th March is given during the booking process. Registration will close on March 12th.
