Rodopis is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the XX cycle of the seminar series Ricerche a Confronto, entitled Reproposals and Republications of Legislative Acts in the Ancient Mediterranean: Analysis, Reconstructions, Interpretations. The seminar will take place at the Department of History and Cultures of the University of Bologna, in Aula Celio, Via Zamboni 38 (Bologna), on 28-29 May 2026, and is organized by Fiorella Fiocca, Marta Fogagnolo, and Lorenza Natale.

The aim of Ricerche a Confronto 2026 is to closely investigate normative acts (laws, decrees, treaties, edicts, etc.) that are known or suspected to be reuses, reissues, or republications of earlier acts. The main goal is to study the historical and political contexts that motivated these processes, the documented or reconstructable causes, and any changes that may have occurred compared to the original publication, also in cases where the earlier act is not directly attested.

Each paper will have a duration of 20 minutes, followed by time for discussion. Contributions may be presented in Italian or English, to ensure the participation and engagement of all interested scholars. If necessary, speakers may present their papers remotely, though in-person attendance is strongly encouraged.

PhD candidates, recent PhD graduates, postdoctoral researchers, as well as master’s students and recent graduates are invited to submit an abstract of 200–250 words. Abstracts should be submitted in .pdf format, anonymized (file name: first three words of the title), by 18 January 2026 to [email protected](email subject line: RAC 2026 abstract). Proposals will be evaluated by a scientific committee selected from within the Rodopis association. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by 21 February 2026.
