According to a groundbreaking design, the already existing old museum building has been expanded with new additional rooms and spaces. Slowly, it is transformed to an ultra-modern museum which will house the exceptional finds from the Theban Acropolis and its area but also offices for the archaeological authorities, laboratories and work spaces for conservators, a library and storage rooms. An open-museum will operate in the new Museum’s premises, where less-vulnerable antiquities will be exposed.
