The Hellenic Society for Archaeometry (HSA) decided for the change of its 6th Symposium location. The Symposium under the title “Craft-based Cultural Influences in the Mediterranean”, will be held in Athens, in the amphitheatre of Acropolis Museum (and not in Heraklion, Crete, as previously announced), from 16th to 18th May 2013.

The symposium will cover all aspects of the field or in general the study of Cultural Heritage by use of natural science: Integrated studies on provenance, technology and dating of material remains; Investigating landscapes and cultural heritage within; Conservation science and technology; Biomaterials and archaeology.

Furthermore, a Special Session is planned, aiming to highlight scientific approaches to the study of the Intangible Cultural Heritage; these can relate to two main issues: either to the development and acquisition of skills and aspects of tradition and experience associated with crafts diachronically, or to our contemporary perception of the landscape based on the systematic examination of historical and archaeological data but also those derived from our sensory perception thereof.

Due to the delay by changing the location of the conference, the deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended. Abstracts should be submitted not later than 10th February 2013.

Further information will be available soon at www.archaeometry.gr as well as in the 2nd call.
