On November 29, the Benaki Museum, the U.S. Embassy in Athens and the British Council, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Athen, are organizing the conference “THE CO-MUSEUM: Synergies, coalitions and partnerships between museums, cultural initiatives, civil society and beyond.”
During the eighth edition of the Museum Conference, we invite professionals from museums and cultural organizations, civil society, community groups, artists, educators and students to examine how collaborations across sectors can be a powerful tool to achieve prosperity for their organizations and help them become more relevant to their communities.
The conference is under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports as well as the City of Athens. Minister Myrsini Zorba will open the conference with a keynote address.

During the conference the international and Greek speakers will share their experience in public-private partnerships, conventional and non-conventional synergies, marketable and non-commercial collaborations, as well as cross disciplinary and cross-sectoral coalitions.
The topics that will be discussed include:
-how diverse synergies can help cultural organizations with outreach and audience development, as well as on sustainability and financial growth,
-how museums and cultural organizations can imbed diverse collaborations into their strategy and planning,
-how museums and cultural organizations can invite communities and initiatives to participate in a co-creation process.
There will be simultaneous interpretation into Greek and English as well as in Greek Sign Language. Entry is free.

The conference will be recorded by the Bodossakis Foundation Lectures on Demand (blod.gr) and will be available online. The conference will also be live streamed through DIAVLOS.
The Museum World Café: Launching Synergies for Cultural and Civil Society Professionals will take place immediately after the conference. After a day of inspiring presentations, this event will nurture discussions around issues of common interest in order to encourage collaboration, resource sharing and idea generation within the Athens cultural ecosystem and beyond. This event is based on the recommendations of the recently completed report “Athens City Resilience Through Culture” the result of a collaboration between the British Council, 100 Resilient cities and The City of Athens Office for Resilience and Sustainability (see full report here).
Pre-registration for the Museum World Café will also be available on November 19 on the Eventbrite platform. Working language for the event is English and no interpretation will be provided.
The World Café is supported by the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency, through the R.O.C.K. project, co-funded by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union.
On November 30, the conference will be presented in Thessaloniki, at the “Aimilios Riadis Hall (inside the HELEXPO Grounds) from 11:00 – 18:00. The conference in Thessaloniki is organized by the U.S. Consulate General, the British Council, the Metropolitan Organization of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki, and the Benaki Museum. It is supported by HELEXPO and it is under the auspices of the Thessaloniki Municipality. Entrance is free with priority order seating. There will be simultaneous interpretation into Greek and English. Pre-registration will be available in the Eventbrite platform on November 19. Registration on the day of the conference starts at 10:00 a.m. Certificates will be given via e-mail after the event.
