John Cabot University is an accredited American liberal arts college in the heart of Rome, Italy.
The Department of History and Humanities is seeking to hire an adjunct lecturer to teach one or two classical studies courses in the fall 2019 semester. The courses will probably be in ancient Greek or Roman history, classical mythology, or ancient Roman literature, although candidates with other areas of competence are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in classical studies and teaching experience in a student-centered environment. They must also be fluent in English and have permission to work in the European Union.
For administrative reasons, preference will be given to candidates already based in Rome or with other, substantial reasons to be in Rome for the fall 2019 semester.
The position is limited to the fall 2019 semester: although there may be vacancies in future semesters, it is not guaranteed that the person hired for the fall semester will be re-hired.
For course descriptions and further information about the University, please see the University’s website, www.johncabot.edu.
To apply, please submit a letter of application, a CV, and the contact details of two referees to Prof. Stefan Sorgner ([email protected]) before January 18, 2019. Please indicate “Adjunct Lecturer in Classical Studies” in the subject line. Due to the large number of applications expected, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
