The Classical Association of South Africa (CASA) invites proposals for papers for its 33rd Biennial Conference, to be hosted by the Department of Ancient Studies at the University of Stellenbosch.

The CASA Biennial Conference is the flagship event for the study of Greco-Roman antiquity in South Africa. Papers on any aspect of the classical world and its reception are welcomed, with the special focus of this conference formulated as “Homes & Homecomings”. Panels on focus areas (not necessarily related to the conference theme) are strongly encouraged and should consist of 3 to 8 related papers put together by the panel chair. Also invited are postgraduate students currently busy with Masters or Doctoral programmes to submit papers for planned “work-in-progress” sessions.

Keynote Speakers:
Prof Judith Mossman (Coventry University)
Prof Andrew Stewart (University of California Berkeley)
Prof Stanley Burstein (California State University)

Please submit a paper title, an abstract (approximately 300 words), and author affiliation to Annemarie de Villiers at [email protected]. The extended deadline for submissions is 15 July, but to allow for funding applications and flight and accommodation bookings, paper proposals will be  reviewed as they are submitted.
