Patrick and Joan Leigh Fermor donated their home to the Benaki Museum expressing the desire that it is used for the purposes of the Museum, hosts researchers, and remains open to the public. Their legacy is one of the most important donations that the Benaki Museum has received in recent decades and its development and operation have been paramount among the Museum’s priorities.

Thanks to a significant grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and also thanks to the project’s enthusiastic supporters, necessary repairs have now been completed. Currently, the Patrick & Joan Leigh Fermor House is ready to host important scholars and artists and function as an educational centre with the cooperation of international academic institutions. Princeton University was the first academic institution that was hosted at the Leigh Fermor House.

Additionally, the Patrick and Joan Leigh Fermor House is open to public with scheduled visits and guided tours from July 2019, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:00 am.
Reservation is required by email at [email protected] or by phone at +30 210 3671090 (Monday to Thursday).
