The Birmingham Egyptology team issued the following announcement regarding the upcoming Birmingham Egyptology Symposium:

“We wanted to send an update regarding our upcoming Birmingham Egyptology Symposium, ‘Biography in ancient Egypt’, scheduled to take place at the University of Birmingham on 29th May 2020. Amidst the growing uncertainty and closures of Universities across the UK to tackle the spread of COVID-19, this has naturally led to the postponement or cancellation of events with anticipated large gatherings of the public. The University of Birmingham is now officially working with restricted campus operations until 1st June 2020 at the earliest, though this may be extended depending on how the situation progresses.

“Therefore, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming
Symposium. We hope that this can be rescheduled in the future and that we can provide further information once the University campus reopens.
