Museums in Egypt close to the public in the framework of measurements against the Coronavirus spread. According to a Press Release by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities issued on Sunday, March 22, “In light of the precautionary measures to confront the novel Coronavirus, all museums and archaeological sites in Egypt will be closed to the public, starting Monday morning, March 23 until March 31, for sterilization and disinfection in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population and in accordance with international standards.” 

Dr. Mostafa Waziri Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities stated that during this period, “a program aiming to raise the awareness of the sites and museums’ employees on ways of prevention and protection against the virus will take place.”
