The coronavirus has changed the dates of major Egyptian national projects. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has decided to postpone the inauguration of the new administrative capital and the Grand Archaeological Museum, from 2020 to 2021.

According to Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radhi, the decision was finalized after a meeting with the country’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Economy Minister Assem El-Gazzar.

The spokesman for the Egyptian presidency said that the Minister of Housing stressed the need to ensure continuing work on the construction sites, while maintaining the safety of workers.

The Egyptian President called for all precautionary measures to be taken on the construction sites to ensure the safety of workers and the provision of necessary medical aid where necessary.
