Following the unanimous agreement in favour of the request by HELLENIKON SA issued by the Central Council of Modern Monuments of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Minister Lina Mendoni made the following statement:

“With today’s positive opinion issued by the Central Council of Modern Monuments, which follows the likewise unanimous opinion of the Central Archaeological Council on the same issue, the Ministry of Culture and Sports supports the Ministry of Development’s strenuous effort to speed up the works at Hellenikon.

“The emergency we are living through makes it imperative to issue good news on our country’s economy. The approval of the declaratory acts by the top advisory bodies of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, allows works to commence immediately in the field that will give breathing space to rebooting the economy”.

The Central Council of Modern Monuments unanimously agreed in favour of implementing article 67 of law 4663/2020 (Government Gazette A 30) within the Metropolitan Area of Hellenikon – Agios Kosmas and the demolition of buildings, installations, accompanying auxiliary structures and constructions within their surroundings, according to the technical report submitted with its accompanying plans.
