The formerly postponed conference, organized by the Archaeological Heritage Network, “Ground Check – Cultural Heritage and Climate Change”  is now being carried out as an online event series.

On six dates between September 23 and October 29, 2020, experts will speak on the subject of cultural heritage and climate change. The discussion topics will be presented by the speakers in a 3-5 minute keynote speech and then discussed with the other participants. Afterwards, you will be able to ask questions via chat.

Opening Event, September 23, 6.00-7.30 pm:
From Model to Impact: Reconstruction of Past Climate Changes and Their Consequences

Modern archaeology examines all facets of human life. This also includes the effects of climate changes on the environmental conditions in which people lived in the past, and which they also influenced. After an introduction by Friederike Fless, president of the German Archaeological Institute, experts from the Free University Berlin, Kiel University, Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum and the German Archaeological Institute open the discussion about climate changes and their impact on past societies.
