The Faculty of Classics is seeking to appoint three University Assistant Professors (formerly known as University Lecturers) in Classics from 01 September 2022.

Applications are invited from those whose research falls into the areas of Greek and Roman philosophy, Greek and Roman history, Greek art and archaeology, and Greek literature. Applications are particularly welcome from those whose research includes the literature, culture and history of the Hellenistic periods and of late antiquity, papyrology, epigraphy, ancient science, the relations between the Greek and Roman worlds and the cultures of e.g. the Near East, India, North Africa, the comparative study of Greek and Roman and other cultures, and classical reception/the classical tradition.

Applicants should have publications and research in progress commensurate with the international reputation and top-rank research rating of the Faculty of Classics. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and supervision of dissertations at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Onassis Fellowship in Classics at Newnham College will be associated with one of the appointments and a Fellowship at Trinity College with another of the appointments.
