Two marble heads of female statues from the Roman period were found in an apartment recently bought by a 35-year-old Greek man in the city centre.

The Hellenic Police announced in a press release that the owner found the artefacts mentioned above (as well as a number of relevant documents), carefully hidden in the apartment’s attic. According to the opinion of an archaeologist of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Thessaloniki, these fall under the protective provisions of Law 3028/02 “For the protection of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage in general”.

A Preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Department of Cultural Heritage and Antiquities of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate.
